Kilkishen/Bodyke 2-9 Inagh Kilnamona 1-12

The home side got off to a flying start with a goal and a point from full forward Shauna Doyle.  Inagh/Kilnamona took a while to settle before recording first half points through Sarah Coote (0-2), Aoibhinn Ryan (0-3), Muireann Daffy (0-1) and team captain Hannah Shannon (0-1).  This left the half time score Kilkishen/Bodyke 2-2  Inagh/Kilnamona 0-7.

After the resumption, Inagh/Kilnamona had a well taken goal from Muireann Daffy, followed closely by a point from Hannah Shannon. This saw the visitors go into a 3-point lead very early in the second half. Some great camogie was on display for the next 25 minutes as Kilkishen/Bodyke slotted over 6 points to Inagh/Kilnamona’s four.

In the dying stages of the game, Rachel Murray came from full-back to confidently slot a long range free between the posts for Kilkishen/Bodyke. This ensured a share of the spoils for both teams in what was a very good game of camogie.

Good performances by Shauna Doyle, Rachel Murray, Cara Close and Niamh Melody for Kilkishen/Bodyke whilst Inagh/Kilnamona had strong displays from Hannah Shannon, Tierna Hegarty, Danielle Griffin, Aoibhinn Ryan and Caoimhe Devitt.

Ruan 7-15 Truagh Clonlara 5-8

A first half goal rush saw Ruan come out victors 7-15 to Truagh-Clonlara 5-8. A purple patch in the first half for the home team was decisive in what was otherwise an even contest. Some fine play was seen from both teams with excellent score taking on show.

Sixmilebridge 5-11 Banner 3-1

Sixmilebridge were first to register a score when Jessica Williams pointed. Banner added one of their own soon after. Kate Fitzgerald split the posts for the home team when she converted a free. From this Banner went on to rattle to the ‘Bridge net. Rosie Young put in over to narrow the gap but Banner came back with a second goal. Williams and Emma Stanley popped two points over between them. At half time Banner were in the lead on a scoreline of 2-1 to 5 points. 

In the second half Banner found target in the ‘Bridge net once more. Hereafter Sixmilebridge dominated adding 4 goals to their scoreline from Aisling Morey, Stanley, Young and Fitzgerald from a free. From this their tally continued, when the full time whistle went Sixmilebridge were ahead on a scoreline of 5-11 to 3-01.

Broadford/Parteen 4-7 Clarecastle/Ballyea 5-8

Clarecastle/Ballyea came out on top when they beat a strong Broadford/Parteen in the 2nd Round of the U16B Championship on Wednesday evening in Parteen.  It was an evenly matched game with the minimum between the sides at the final whistle.  Clarecastle/Ballyea got the scoring started when a free taken by Niamh Enright landed in the back of the net followed by two pointed frees from the host.  Two goals were added from Stella Quinlivan and Hannah Morrissey which help Clarecastle/Ballyea hold the advantage by the break despite a fightback from Broadford/Parteen adding 1-1 to the scoreboard.  Half time score 3-1 to 1-3.  Parteen/Broadford started the second half comfortably scoring 3-2 without reply. Clarecastle/Ballyea continued to battle with goals from Stella Quinlivan & Lily McMahon.  While points were exchanged by both sides it was the visitors brace of points from Emma O’Donoghue (0-5 2f) & Hannah Mai Neylon (0-2) helped them seal a 4 point victory.

U16C

Newmarket on Fergus 4-6 Cratloe 6-0

This battle ended in a draw following an excellent first half from Cratloe and a spirited fight back from the hosts in the second half.

Cratloe got the better of the early exchanges and some excellent team work and passing saw the ball advance to the Newmarket end.  Lucy Earls profited from a plentiful supply of ball and scored a hat trick of goals in the first half. Newmarket opened their account with a free from a placed ball by Lisa O’Neill before Laura Cuneen found the net. The half time score was Cratloe 3-0 and Newmarket 1-1.

Conditions deteriorated in the second half, diminishing light not helped by the heavy rain falling. Newmarket started well with some great passes before Lisa O’Neill rattled the back of the Cratloe net.  Cratloe continued to find the net with Megan O’Connor kicking a goal.  Newmarket found the net after a 45 went in low.  Cratloe added two more goals but Newmarket replied with two goals and five points, the last scored from a free deep in injury time, allowing the referee to declare a draw.
