Feakle/Killanena 2-22 Broadford 1-11

Broadford had two points on the board before Feakle/Killanena registered their first score of the day a well taken goal from Robyn Conway following a good pass from Polly Edge O Neill. Broadford pushed on with 3 unanswered points from play before 2 lovely points from a difficult angle from Claire McNamara levelled matters.  Both sides exchanged points before Feakle hit a purple patch with 6 unanswered points. Broadford were on target with two fine points before the break to leave the score 1-11 to 0-9.

Feakle/Killanena found their momentum from the throw in and raised a white flag from Regan Conway.  Their ability to take their scores from play and accuracy from placed balls made this a difficult task for the Broadford girls. Their defence stood solid to any attack with Eileen Daly and Ellie Edge O Neill solid in defence. Laura McGraths move to centre field provided the much needed link  and with a plentiful supply of ball to the forwards the East Clare amalgamation ran out easy winners.

Further points were delivered by Allanah Fox and Lorna McNamara, one being from a '45' mid way through the opening half. U16C

Tulla 3-1 Whitegate 6-2

Tulla headed to Whitegate this week to play the current champions of the U16C competition.  Both team’s were very evenly matched to start although Tulla’s goalkeeper, Laura Nolan, and their back’s particularly Aoife Halpin and Eabha McInerney were very busy in the first half and made some great saves to keep Tulla in the game..  Whitegate where first on the scoreboard through a 45’ from Amber Nolan who managed to lob the ball into the net.  Tulla responded well with a point from play and a goal from a free both scored by Alex O’Sullivan.  Whitegate then equalised with a point and all was square at 1-1 each at half time.

As the second half started a great run down the wing form Aoife Murphy passing to Leagh Hunt saw Tulla raise the green flag to put them into the lead.  Whitegate then came back into the game hell for leather and scored 2-1 before Tulla managed to get the ball back and try and equal up – Nessa Flynn, Jennifer Nicholas and Leah Molloy were battling hard in midfield and managed to pass to Eimear Culloo and onto Leagh Hunt for another goal.  As the rain started to drizzle and the light to dim Whitegate and in particular Aideen Hickey continued to dominate and a further 3 goals put an end to Tulla’s hope of a first victory.

Tulla: Laura Nolan; Aoife Halpin, Danara Crowe, Katie Clune, Eabha McInerney, Aoife Murphy, Nessa Flynn, Leah Molloy, Jennifer Nicholas, Roisin Duffy, Eimear Culloo, Alex O’Sullivan (1-1), Emma O’Grady, Leagh Hunt (2-0)
