Inagh Kilnnamona 0.1 Crusheen 1.4
Round five saw the final group game for both teams. Crusheen started the game brightly and attacked from the first whistle putting the hosts defence under pressure. Crusheen's early dominance saw them take the lead early in the first half. A good delivery from Faye Dean saw Aoife Rogers expertly catch a high ball and her long range effort found the net to give Crusheen the perfect start. They quickly extended their lead when a fine solo run saw Mary Hanrahan score a fine point. The rest of the first half saw both defences dominate and scores were hard to come by. The home side enjoyed good possession towards the end of the first half but their forwards could not break down a resilient Crusheen defence.
The second half saw Inagh KIlnamona enjoy the early exchanges. They got the first point of the half when a good run and pass from number Cliodhna Queally to Siofra Foudy saw Crusheen's lead reduced to a goal. A rasping shot from Siofra Foudy was brilliantly blocked by Hannah Gleeson and prevented a certain goal, and set up an immediate counter attack. Hannah Gleeson brought the ball out of defence and laid off to Faye Dean who delivered a good ball to the Crusheen forwards. Caoimhe Clancy was first to react and drew the foul which resulted in Crusheen extending their lead to 1-2 to 0-1. Crusheen had the better scoring chances and they were thwarted from extending their lead on three occasions when Inagh Kilnamona,s goalie Eva O'Halloran made three outstanding saves to keep the home side within touching distance. Despite their best efforts they could not cut the gap with Ella Kearney Ava Lyons and the Crusheen defence determined not to concede any scores. The final score of the game was a converted 45 by Mary Hanrahan to see Crusheen run out 1-4 to 0-1 winners.

Clooney Quin 4.5 Crusheen 3.3 @ Crusheen
The third round of the U13 championship took place in Crusheen. The home team had the aid of the wind in the first half but it was the visitors who made the livelier start. The early exchanges saw Clooney Quin dominating the early exchanges. A good delivery from Claire Murphy to Clodagh Quinn in space gave Clooney the opening point of the game. The home team began to find their rythem after the early dominance of Clooney. Good work by Grace Gleeson saw her deliver the ball into space. Mary Hanrahan was first to it and after a fine run saw her shot hit the post. Aoife Rodgers was on hand to finish to the net to give the home team the lead. Clooney Quin responded immediately and a rasping shot from Ellen Collins was brilliantly saved by Crusheen goalie Anna Taaffe. Crusheen extended their lead when after good interplay between Grace Gleeson and Faye Dean saw Dean split the uprights for a fine point. Both defences were enjoying dominance but the Clooney Quin forwards began to make inroads just before half time. .Clooney Quin full forward Ellen Collins and Crusheen full back Hannah Gleeson were having a titanic battle in the first half. A long delivery from Shauna O halloran found Ellen Collins and she found space and laid off to Ellen mc Sherry to finish to the net and draw the sides level. Clooney piled on the pressure and an excellent team move saw them take the lead. Possession was won in midfield by Ellen mc Sherry who laid off to Clodagh Quinn. A fine solo run dragged in the Crusheen defence leaving Ellen Collins unmarked. The pass from Clodagh Quinn was perfect and Ellen Collins made no mistake finishing to the net. Crusheen ended the half with a free from Mary Hanrahan to leave the half time score 1-2 to 2-2.
The second half saw the visitors up the tempo and as in the first half enjoyed good possession and dominance. Unlike the first half they made this possession pay. An early point by Emma Quinn extended their lead. They continued to pile on the pressure and Emma Quinn had a chance to further extend their lead but was brilliantly blocked by Hannah Gleeson. But it wasn't long before the their next hogan came. A good run by Orna Moynihan and pass to Emma Quinn saw the green flag raised for their third goal. Crusheen responded in kind. Good work by Caoimhe Clancy saw her deliver a long pass to Grace Gleeson to find the net and reduce the gap to four points. However it was a close as the home team would get. Good interplay by the Clooney forwards saw Ellen Collins bury the ball in the net to extend their lead. Crusheen continued to fight back and a determined run and delivery found Mary Hanrahan unmarked to finish to the net to again reduce the gap to four points. Crusheen were chasing the game and space was opening up for Clooney,s forwards to exploit and two further points extended their lead to six. Crusheen continued to try and close the gap. A twenty metre free was well saved by the Clooney goalie. A number of forty fives followed but the Crusheen forwards couldn't break down a well marshalled defence with Claire Murphy and Amy Senton who were excellent for the visitors defence. The final score read was 3- 3 to 4-5.

In the opening minutes of the match both teams seemed to be fairly even. It wasn’t until the 9th minute that Aine O’Callaghan for Newmarket opened score sheet with a well taken free. In the second half, Truagh-Clonlara inspired by the end of the 1st half went straight on to score another goal with a great solo run by Roisin Hannan, to take the lead. Éire Óg v Broadford @ Éire Óg 17/09/18 @ 6.15pm

Éire Óg 4-04 Broadford 0-03
Éire Óg’s Under 13 Camogie side concluded their unbeaten championship campaign with, arguably, their best team performance of the season with a merited victory over Broadford on Wednesday evening. They now move on to a home semi-final v Cratloe on Sunday, September 30th @ 5.30pm
Such an outcome didn’t look likely as, under a leaden sky, Broadford raced out of the blocks to take a 0-02 to 0-00 with two excellently taken scores from their midfield pairing, the second of which was from a particularly acute angle. Wind-assisted, Éire Óg needed a response and, after Annie Lynch forced a 45 in the fifth minute, Ella Cahill struck a blistering shot to the net, in spite of a great effort from the Broadford goalie at turning the shot wide. Cahill gained confidence from this, and just a few minutes later she gathered possession about fifty metres from goal and showed great skill to out-fox her opponent before despatching a bullet shot to the visitor’s net.
Éire Óg started to really play well at this point, with all lines of the field performing with great credit. Excellent work from Shauna Faughey and Elise Ryan created a chance for Annie Lynch which drifted wide, before two points from Ella Cahill put the home side six ahead on a score of 2-02 to 0-02 after 15 minutes of play.
The Townies had started to control the midfield area where Cahill and Sarah Murphy were dominant, and another Ella Cahill point was quickly followed up with a deserved white flag from Annie Lynch. Broadford responded though, and it took some really good defending in the full back line from Katelyn Ferns, Irene Boateng, and Emma Lyons to keep the visitors at bay as the half time whistle sounded with the home side leading 2-04 to 0-02.
On the re-start Éire Óg put to bed any thoughts of a Broadford rally as another Ella Cahill goal stretched the home side’s lead to eleven points. It was the signal for Éire Óg to give some of their younger troops a run and it was heartening to see so many of them perform well when introduced. Broadford attacked a lot more in the second half, but with Rachel Russell imperious at centre back, and Irene Boateng solid as a rock at full back, there was no way through for the visitors whose efforts yielded a single point in the second period. Indeed, as the clock ticked towards the end, Éire Óg broke forward, the ball made its way to Ella Cahill again and she struck an un-stoppable shot to the Broadford net to close out proceedings on a scoreline of 4-04 to 0-03.
Throughout a super display from the girls, the Éire Óg spine was on top form and would not yield despite Broadford’s best efforts. The work rate and teamwork was a joy to behold and to see some of the younger girls contributing also was fantastic. Aoife Moylan, Kate Talty, Sarah Broderick, Ruth Nihill, Rachael Murphy, and Aideen O’Donoghue all saw plenty of ball, and along with Jennifer O’Donnell and the Fitzgerald twins, Aimee and Caoimhe, all contributed to another deserved win.
